Bio

John Jennings Boyd represents the vanguard of a new generation of composers equally adept at scoring with live orchestra, producing ambient soundscapes, and writing and creating commercially-minded tracks across all forms of modern media.

John has scored feature and short films that have garnered major awards and attention at the most prestigious film festivals (Sundance, SXSW, GenArt, etc) including Cary Fukunaga’s Victoria Para Chino and Moon Molson’s Pop Foul. Most recently, he has scored two selections from the 2011 Sundance Film Festival: Kinyarwanda (dir. Alrick Brown) and Crazy Beats Strong Everytime (dir. Moon Molson). In addition, his music can be heard in a variety of major feature films including Four Christmases (Vince Vaughn), $5 a Day (Christopher Walken), and What Doesn't Kill You (Mark Ruffalo). Television highlights include HBO's How to Make It In America, Discovery's Life, CBS's 48 Hours, and dozens of shows across most of the major cable networks (TLC, A&E, THC, TruTV, etc).


In addition to scoring Film and TV, John also has written and produced a myriad number of tracks for ad campaigns, products, and institutions as varied as Lexus, Verizon, Microsoft, Clinique and HSBC.

John currenly resides in Los Angeles. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music from The Florida State University School of Music, and a Masters Degree in Film Scoring from New York University.
